John Koontz will be delivering 6 days of valuable training to project manager and foremen teams between 2018 and 2020. The first session was on April 3rd and the September 11th course will round out 2018.

This series of 6 courses will be stand-alone in nature, but we suggest for seminar attendees to dive into all 6 days to get the ultimate Koontz training experience.
Morning Session: High Impact Communication Skills
• 7:30 – 11:30 AM
When communication problems develop, relationships usually weaken, misunderstandings occur, and project failure is imminent. Communication is always difficult on a construction project and the best leaders know that it’s an issue which requires their constant attention, evaluation, and improvement. This session will cover vital communication topics such as: effective listening, questioning, public speaking and presentation, basic written communication, clear explanation and understanding, and accepting the burden of communication.
Afternoon Session: Critical Leadership Skills for Project Leaders
• 12:30 – 4:30 PM
To have successful projects, a project leader must develop critical leadership skills. This session will provide an understanding of these skills and include topics such as: defining and dispelling the myths of leadership, understanding the differences between leadership and management, Maxwell’s irrefutable laws of leadership, the relationship between leadership and motivation, creating an atmosphere of trust, learning leadership abilities and the relationship to personal effectiveness and accomplishment.

John Koontz has been teaching mechanical contractors for over 25 years. He was a tenured professor at Purdue University in the CM Department before joining with MCAA to teach at the Institute for Project Management & the Advanced Institute for Project Management, as well as a plethora of courses on the road at local MCAA chapters. John also spent 15 years as a mechanical contractor. MCA-Omaha is extremely lucky to have such a practical, knowledgeable, and popular presenter back in Omaha!
