Topic:
MCA-Omaha’s Safety Committee has put an emphasis on the importance of mental health in our industry. Mental Health Awareness helps to bring everyone from the field to the office to the same level to understand mental health and how to support their coworkers when they are working through their mental health.
Staggering Statistics:
- 2020 study found that 83% of construction workers have experienced a mental health issue
- 4x greater suicide rate than national average
- 5x greater than all other construction fatalities combined (It could rightfully top the list of OSHA’s Fatal Four Hazards)
- Construction workers are disproportionately prone to alcohol and drug abuse
About the Speaker:
Mindful Momentum’s Nancy Spangler and Robin Todd work with Unions and Construction companies to offer trainings that prioritize mental health.
